Baruch Dayan HaEmes, we are saddened to hear of and relate the passing of Rabbi Efraim Sprecher (Efraim Avrohom ben Pesach Moshe), ztz”l, who was niftar last Friday, May 17th. The funeral took place in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Sprecher, ztz”l inspired many as Dean of Students and teacher at Diaspora Yeshiva on Mount Zion, Jerusalem over many years, prior to which he was a professor of Judaic studies at Touro College in New York. A student of HaRav Yaakov Kamenetsky and HaRav Gedalia Schorr, Rabbi Sprecher, ztz”l was granted smicha (rabbinical ordination) by Torah Vodaath Yeshiva. Not only was he a popular speaker and teacher but also a dynamic thinker and writer. In addition to his duties at Diaspora Yeshiva, Rabbi Sprecher wrote a regular column on various Judaic topics in the Jewish Press and lectured regularly at the OU Israel Center in Jerusalem. A collection of over 450 of his shiurim and lectures is currently available on his website, RabbiSprecher.com.
May his memory be for a blessing, and may the Omnipresent comfort his family among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
